South Australian Water Polo Inc The parent body for water polo in South Australia
	SAWPI is affilated with Australian Water Polo Incorporated and is committed to developing water polo in South Australia. We provide teams in the Australian National League under the name 'Jets' and run state league competitions for Men, Women, Juniors and Masters. We assist and are assisted by SASI in developing junior programs for aspiring champions and encourage participation through middle age and beyond. We maintain four clubs competing in winter and summer competitions.

Coach & Manager Positions Vacant
Adelaide Jets Men’s & Women’s Teams - 2011 season.

Applications are invited for the positions of Coaches & Managers for the Adelaide Jets Men’s & Women’s Teams

The respective teams will commence training in October 2010 (subject to confirmation) and compete in the 2011 Australian National Water Polo League.

As part of their duties the successful applicants for the position of coach will be asked to plan a program of Water Polo specific training as an adjunct to morning swim training provided for the athletes involved.

Managers will also be asked to assist with aspects of the administration of the National League Squads leading up to and during the National League.

Both Coaches and Managers will operate under the direction of the SAWPI Chief Executive Officer, the SAWPI Director of Coaching and SAWPI National League Delegate who will jointly oversee the organisation of the squads and teams under the direction of the Board of SA Water Polo.

Financial remuneration will be provided for the coaches and both coaches & managers will have their travel & accommodation expenses covered whilst on NL road trips.

SAWPI / SASI Junior Talent Squad

S.A. Water Polo is delighted to announce the formation of the SAWPI / SASI Junior Talent Squad.

The squad is a joint initiative of SA Water Polo Inc. and the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI). Head SASI Water Polo coach, Eddie Denis will coach the squad with the assistance of SA 16 & under coach and Adelaide Jets player, Anthony Martin. The Talent Squad will consist of the leading male and female Water Polo players from the 14 & Under and 16 & Under South Australian Water Polo age groups.

It is intended that this squad will be the initial step in identifying talented junior players in South Australia who will be targeted for future SASI scholarship squads and Australian team representation at Junior and Senior level.
The Junior Talent Squad training program will begin Monday 20^th October and conclude on Saturday December 13th. This 8-week program will consist of 4 training sessions per week. S.A.Water Polo will subsidise the program. The athletes will benefit from expert instruction in Sports Science, Psychology, Time Management and Nutrition by specialists in each field. These sessions will occur in normal training times.

The program will cost $80 plus pool entry. This covers Water Polo coaching, swim coaching and specialist SASI coaches / lecturers.

Athletes are invited to attend an initial selection/testing session, which will be held at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre on Friday 10^th October from 1-3pm. Participants are to arrive by 12.45 at the latest.

Pending the number of athletes who are deemed to be of the necessary standard to achieve selection, up to 16 athletes will be selected. Selection criteria will be as follows –

Past experience – past State squad participation.

Ability / potential – determined by fitness testing.

Attitude – judged from past State squad participation.

Nominations for the squad are required by Friday 3rd of October. Please advise by email or phone if you wish to try out for this squad.
